Washington CityPaper is touting Wednesday’s Bacon and Bourbon: a Whiskey Festival held at Penn Social as “hog heaven” with live blue grass music by Drymill Road, over 30 whiskey tastings, paired with bacon dishes from local restaurants. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to Blondes vs Brunettes Fight Against Alzheimers.
I’m pretty excited, though bourbon and bacon are definitely the hubby’s thing. Seeing as he just explained what makes a bourbon a bourbon, we decided to take date night in a different direction and I’ll be live posting the event on social (shameless follow me plug: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) with a full recap on the blog. Tickets are sold out so you’ll have to live through me vicariously!
Standouts on the whiskies and bourbons include Bakers, KnobCreek, and Old Forester. The restaurant list includes a distinctly southern angle from heavy hitters in the DC circuit like Art and Soul and Bourbon to trend setters like GBD and The Pig among those listed. For the full listing see the CityPaper event page.
